All things GFRIEND members have said about the disbandment
When the news broke out all the members went to Weverse and Sowon said:
We all have to meet again.
All members replied with hearts.
Later was revealed that they knew for a month and couldn’t do anything, the agency prohibited it. They cried the whole month and when the article announced it after the leak they all left their rooms and cried again together.
When the remaining members closed a contract creating VIVIZ and released the news, Sowon went live on her Instagram with all the members present in the comment section. Some highlights of what they said:
SOWON: Everyone don’t cry, because we’re forever. I’m thankful to GFRIEND. We are GFRIEND. Anyway, whatever it is, it’s not like GFRIEND disappeared, guys!
Thank you for always trusting me. Our occupation is an occupation which we can’t say anything coolly. It’s frustrating for me too so how it must be for our fans…
SINB: We are GFRIEND.
UMJI: If 6 of us will sing, then we have to sing (my song). My wish forever. I’m going to send it to the world with the voices of the members someday!!!!! That’s my ambition hehe. They will remember everything ♡
When VIVIZ announced their fandom name called na.V (meaning butterfly, recalling “Navillera”), Sinb said on Universe:
SINB: I didn’t abandon GFRIEND after being in VIVIZ.
GFRIEND = VIVIZ
Sinb = Hwang Eunbi
na.V = Buddy
There wasn’t a time, not even once that we are not GFRIEND.
Sowon also shared some thoughts in her private message app:
SOWON: The word ‘disbandment’ is really bad. I was so angry!! [When reading the article].
After Yuju and VIVIZ released their debut albums, VIVIZ shared their thoughts on SCAN VIVIZ:
There are videos of members on VLIVE crying watching videos of fans cheering. We thought we wouldn’t cry the day the contract article was out but we came out of our rooms and cried. We may not show it but we had a really hard time last year.
I honestly think GFRIEND will meet again one day, whether it's with an album or something else, so we just need one person as leader, Sowon-unnie. That's why we (VIVIZ) didn't make a leader.
We left (the position) for the leader. So, for me (we’re) only separated for a moment, first of all, we’re going to do the team activities well and I think it’d be nice to meet after improving ourselves individually.
Yerin interviewing Yuju in her show came out the same day:
After Sinb shared her version, Sowon went live to comfort fans. Yerin also said this on her private message app:
Thank you for trusting and protecting me. There are so many things I want to say! Thank you so much. We sang a song called “Crossroads”. Life is like a crossroads, but one point is the way to merge… We’re still seeing each other, but let’s meet again 🤍
The group already reunited two times to sing at weddings of former staff close to them:
During the first round of Queendom 2, we could hear more from Sinb:
It feels like yesterday when we debuted with “Glass Bead” and promised not to break up (but they had to say goodbye in may, 2021). It was unexpected.”

The members and I don’t think the group as disbanded… it was such sudden news, I wanted to become an actress someday but I didn’t expect that time would be now.
